THE ARRAN MALT
THE PORT
CASK FINISH
After its initial maturation over a number of years in traditional oak barrels, this whisky is transferred for second maturation in Port wine casks where it takes on the rich complexities of Portugal’s renowned fortified wine.
Arran Port Cask Finish displays the sweet-fruity characteristics of a classic Arran malt, perfectly balanced with rich orchard fruit and spice.
This unique whisky is crafted at Arran’s Lochranza distillery with a blend of Scottish-grown malted barley, and fresh water from nearby Loch na Davie, reputedly the source of the purest water in Scotland.
Once the malts have been fermented with yeast, the ‘wash’ is then double distilled in copper pot stills, before being laid down to mature in ex-Bourbon barrels for approximately eight years. The malt is then transferred to ‘finish’ in Port wine casks selected by Arran’s Master Distiller James McTaggart, sourced from a respected artisan winemaker in Portugal.
Isle of Arran Distillers bottle this single malt at 50% abv, and to present the whisky in its unadulterated, purest form, and retain its full flavour, choose to not chill filter.
Scottish-grown malted barley, yeast, Loch na Davie water, matured in ex-Bourbon and finished in ex-Port wine casks.
With its deep bronze colour, and layered notes of fruits, citrus and barley-sweetness, this is a true delight of an after-dinner dram.
For a particularly indulgent flavour experience, pair this fine whisky with a selection of farmhouse cheeses.
