THE ARRAN MALT
SAUTERNES
CASK FINISH
This voluptuous single malt is initially matured in traditional ex-Bourbon casks before being finished in specially sourced Sauternes sweet wine casks from Bordeaux.
This is a glorious combination of indulgent Sauternes with classic Arran Malt, for a truly rewarding partnership. With its honeyed sweetness, this is the epitome of the perfect ‘dessert dram’.
This unique whisky is crafted at Arran’s Lochranza distillery with a blend of Scottish-grown malted barley, and fresh water from nearby Loch na Davie, reputedly the source of the purest water in Scotland.
Once the malts have been fermented with yeast, the ‘wash’ is then double distilled in copper pot stills, before being laid down to mature in First-Fill ex-Bourbon barrels. After time, they are transferred to ‘finish’ for their last few years of maturation in Sauternes wine casks selected by Arran’s Master Distiller James McTaggart, sourced from one of Bordeaux’s finest wine makers.
Isle of Arran Distillers bottle this single malt at 50% abv, and to present the whisky in its unadulterated, purest form, and retain its full flavour, choose to not chill filter.
Scottish-grown malted barley, yeast, Loch na Davie water, matured in ex-Bourbon and finished in ex-Sauternes wine casks.
With its honeyed characteristics and rich gold colour, this is truly a perfect desert dram, and equally at home in at sumptuous twist on the classic Martini.
