ORIGEN EXTRA ANEJO
Embracing the refined elegance of winemaking, Código 1530 have created an extraordinarily well-matured extra añejo tequila, aged for six years in Cabernet French White Oak wine barrels from Napa, California.
Where most extra añejos are aged for around 3 years, Origen stands out due this extended 6 year maturation process, which contributes unusually refined flavour notes more like those found in aged whiskeys and Cognacs.
Código 1530’s strict production methods dictate that only fully mature agave plants(min. 7 years) and those which achieve the required Brix level of measured sugar content are used to produce Código 1530’s range of tequilas.
Collecting just a quarter of the juice from the first press, it takes around 10kg of agave piñas to produce one litre of the final spirit.
The agave juice, fresh water filtered through the region’s volcanic soils and organic yeast from a local village bakery come together in the family’s proprietary fermentation process.
Finally, the spirit is matured in the family’s signature Napa Cabernet Oak wine barrels for a lengthy six years, which imparts layers of character to this decadent tequila, and provides its natural depth of colour.
