FORTALEZA BLANCO
Fortaleza’s signature Blanco is made with 100% stone crushed Blue Weber agave, and double-distilled for an extra smooth finish in this deceptively complex, yet easy to drink tequila.
With its deep aromas of citrus and rich baked agave, Fortaleza Blanco is a true aficionado’s tequila.
Fortaleza harvest mature agave plants all year round. Their traditional brick oven with its metre-thick walls, has a 15-ton capacity, and it takes around 4 hours to load the agave piñas by hand. They are then slowly steam-cooked for 36 hours, powered by a vintage boiler which dates back to 1903.
The agave is then unloaded by hand and crushed by the traditional tahona stone mill to release the pulp and juices. The agave is then rinsed to separate the pulp from the fibres, producing the sweet agave nectar known as mosto.
This mosto is then transferred to wooden vats for a 5-day fermentation process, ready when the fermented must reaches around 5% ABV.
The fermented mosto muerto is finally double distilled in the distillery’s handmade vintage copper stills, before being filtered and bottled at 40%.
