Genever is the parent of whisky, made from maltwine – a grain spirit – with subtle botanicals added. It was one of the world’s best-selling spirits by the mid-1800s and was enjoyed everywhere from Buenos Aires to Bali.

More recently, world-famous bartender, spirits expert and educator Philip Duff has created the Old Duff brand, to bring this spirit back to the world. The range consists of two genevers, Old Duff Genever 40% abv and Old Duff 100% Maltwine Genever with the Seal of Schiedam, one of the only three such genevers in the world.

Philip Duff, the most prominent global genever expert, is a world-renowned bartender, spirits expert and educator, and lived in Holland for 17 years, where he founded the highly-acclaimed door 74 speakeasy in Amsterdam.

Old Duff is distilled in the genever capital, Schiedam in Holland, which had 392 distilleries in the 18th century. Here, the Herman Jansen family at their Distillery De Tweelingh bring centuries of experience to bear, having produced spirits since 1777. Every drop of Old Duff is milled, mashed, fermented and distilled in Holland – a rare thing for Genever nowadays.
